Genesis - Less is more collection

Zuzana Cholevová

The Genesis jewelry collection draws on the symbolism of the origins of life. Its central motif is a series of glass beads with brass cores, representing cells in different stages of development — from a single cell, through division, to complex structures. The work employs the simplest natural forms, the circle and the sphere, which recur in nature and embody wholeness, cyclicality, and interconnectedness.

The pieces resonate with archetypal symbols such as the vesica piscis and the seed of life, evoking fertility, creation, and protection. The collection includes earrings, a bracelet, and a necklace that combine minimalist form with profound spiritual and natural symbolism.

The work was developed as part of the faculty-wide project Less is More, which focused on reduction, simplicity, and the search for the essence of design across different studios.

Genesis transforms the biological foundations of life into aesthetic objects. It demonstrates that jewelry can be not only adornment but also a medium for expressing universal principles of growth, birth, and cyclicality — opening a dialogue between body, nature, and culture.
